Who is brave birth?

We are a community of affiliated but independently contracted (IC) birth and postpartum workers (doulas), childbirth educators, and lactation consultants. We joyfully serve the Portland, Vancouver, and surrounding metro areas.

We share a common philosophy, brick and mortar space, finances and a passionate value system.

Membership in our community is meant to give more autonomy to the Doulas than they’d get at a more traditional agency.

We are committed to working collaboratively alongside each other for the common good of our families. ICs pay a flat monthly membership fee that covers (but is not nearly limited to):

1. Leads for birth and postpartum clients :: Families are able to contact any member of our team directly through their bio page, as well as getting leads from from our Matchmaker.

2. Connections to the reproductive community :: The value of partnerships with others, monthly support meetings to process client cases, optional social gatherings/retreats for restoration.

3. Education & Community for your families :: Reduced-rate INCLUSIVE & NON-GENDERED childbirth education, family bonding series, as well as complimentary attendance to our New Parent Groups with LGBTQIA+ specific options.

4. Continuing Education :: We decide as a team what yearly advanced trainings our team will take. Twice per year we learn the latest and greatest from our IBCLCs basic newborn feeding training. On an ongoing basis you will find us participating in White Learning Spaces, Anti-Racism work, harm-reduction and LGBTQ+.

5. Cross-Marketing Ops :: Partner your business with our community marketing! This mainly happens through IG and printed marketing materials that go out to select partnerships and OB/CNM/CPM practices we have established relationships with. Mention us on your website and we’ll do the same!

6. Referrals for your individual side hustles :: List your services with us! Do you teach newborn sleep classes? Do you offer in-home prenatal massage? Do you make herbal remedies? All can be showcased on the packages page from our website.

7. Certification :: Brave Birth is proud to announce the option certification for Birth and Postpartum Workers (doulas) that complete all of our approved trainings and are active in membership. At this time, you must complete an initial workshop through an approved trainer.

8. Business management & professional growth We’ve done the work! We’ve made the contracts, handouts and worksheets and we want share them with you. We use an online client management system that you will be trained to use for your own client use.
